Account types and fees

To match your investment style, Manulife InvestChoice offers two types of accounts: Trade-based Account and Asset-based Account. At present, only Trade-based Account is available for new account opening because of the current business policy of Manulife Investment Management (Hong Kong) Limited (“Manulife”).

With Trade-based Account, relevant transaction fee rates will be determined based on the assets under management (“AUM”) in the Account. A Trade-based Account is most suitable for clients who prefer to “buy and hold”.

Asset-based Account has no transaction fees charged for any fund subscriptions or switches. Instead, Annual Fee will be charged based on the average assets under management (“Average AUM”) in the Account. An Asset-based Account is most suitable for clients who rebalance their portfolio on a regular basis.

1 “AUM in the Account” is the total value of Fund holdings and the total bank balance of the related Cash Accounts, subject to the following adjustments:
• cheque payment will be counted towards the bank balance of the Cash Account before it is cleared; and
• your instructed withdrawal from the Cash Account will be deducted from the bank balance of the Cash Account before it is processed.

In addition, for the purpose of calculating the holdings for any single name account, holdings by the holder in any joint-name account will not be considered, and vice versa.

2 “Average AUM” means the daily average holdings in the Account, including the total bank balance of the related Cash Accounts, for the charging month. Annual Fee is calculated as below. For the purpose of calculating holdings for any single name account, holdings by the holder in any joint-name account will not be considered, and vice versa.
