Hong Kong / Jakarta, Indonesia – Manulife Wealth & Asset Management and Schroder Investment Management Limited today jointly announced the signing of an agreement under which PT Manulife Aset Manajemen Indonesia (“MAMI”) will acquire PT Schroder Investment Management Indonesia (“Schroders Indonesia”). The acquisition will leverage both firms’ combined depth of experience and expand the range of world-class investment solutions available to clients.
The transaction is expected to close following the satisfactory completion of certain closing conditions (including regulatory approval from the Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (“OJK”)). Until the acquisition is completed, both firms will continue to operate independently and maintain full regulatory compliance.
Manulife Wealth & Asset Management’s presence in Indonesia dates back to 1996, when it established MAMI, now the country’s largest asset manager. This transaction underscores Manulife’s long-term commitment to the market and strengthens MAMI’s ability to serve a broader customer base with enhanced investment capabilities. The combination of its onshore expertise and global insights uniquely positions MAMI as the provider of choice for investors in Indonesia.
The Schroders Indonesia team has built up an enviable business over the past three decades, becoming the fifth largest asset manager in Indonesia and the largest independent asset management platform in Indonesia1. It has strong, locally relevant investment capabilities, deep client relationships and a proven track record2, making the franchise a highly desirable addition to MAMI. Together, they will deliver scale and compete more effectively in an increasingly complex market environment, while continuing to deliver exceptional outcomes for clients.
